Summary/Abstract: The establishing of vocal ensembles in Bosnia and Herzegovina, modelled on the types of central European music practices, began only in the final decades of the nineteenth century under the auspices of amateur cultural-artistic societies. Regardless of their various functions in various socio-political contexts, from the Austro-Hungary period until now, the way in which cultural-artistic societies function has largely remained unchanged. This paper aims to examine the way of functioning, repertoire, interpretation, and aesthetics in general, of the Female Vocal Ensemble Corona (founded in 1992): one of the ensembles of the Academic Cultural Centre of the University of Sarajevo “Slobodan Princip Seljo”, and a prominent example of a rare musical practice of female a capella ensembles. The methodological design of the research is based on several methods such as observation, interviews, historical method, and method of content analysis.
