Summary/Abstract: The District Music School in Sarajevo is the first school of music subsidized by the state. Founded in 1920, the school successfully worked until the beginning of the Second World War and achieved significant pedagogical results. This paper is a reconstruction of the establishment, organization and school activities, as well as individuals involved in the school activities, based on the valid historical sources stored in the fonds of the public administration of the Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
