Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with questions of evaluation of regional development in the context of the household income situation analyses. The tool disputed are analyses of the results of the „Living conditions“ inquiry. This is the national modification of all-European project EU-SILC (European Union - Statistics on Income and Living Conditions). Due to the unified methodology set by the EU’s and OECD’s Statistical Offices the EU SILC, compared to the previously used instruments, enables international comparisons and harmonization of gained data. It primarily focuses on monitoring the development of household incomes. The first round of inquiry in the Czech Republic was implemented in April and May 2005 whereas the selected characteristics were compared with the data obtained from other statistics and accessible administrative resources. On the basis of delimitation of principles and construction of the final primary data set several partial analyses are presented. These are based on the position indicators and the income variability parameters. Income variables represent average monthly household’s income recalculated to a physical and so-called equalized member, whereas the variable representing recalculation to a physical member is used to quantify the absolute values concerning the household income situation and is intended above all to use for public presentations. The second variable is required by the methodology formulated by the OECD and EUROSTAT for needs of international comparisons and estimations of so-called socially endangered households. The analyses conducted and presented in this paper are merely a slight demonstration and just a preliminary outline of the potential the enquiry offers.
