Media context of the 2022 Thessaloniki International Film Festival

Summary/Abstract: IIn our article, we briefly analyse the 63rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF), by presenting its cultural and architectural context. The paper is structured in the following parts: the first is a chapter that briefly presents the appearances of this festival in the recent Hungarian language media, followed by the analysis of the cultural context of the largest film festival in the Balkans. The third chapter outlines the history of TIFF, presenting the phases of its internationalization, as well as its exceptional achievements and crises. The penultimate chapter deals with TIFF’s public image, with references to the “Vergina Sun” – the inspiration for the festival’s logo, and the final chapter contains a brief presentation of two films screened at TIFF 2022: Piso apo tis thimonies (2022, director: Asimina Proedrou) and Unrueh (2022, director: Cyril Schäublin).
