Summary/Abstract: The objective of the study is to investigate the peculiarities of functioning and development of the Russian lexeme “PR/пиар” in contemporary Russian in comparison with its use in English and Czech. The material is collected from dictionaries and corpora of the respective languages. The author highlights a high degree of the lexeme´s assimilation in Russian (with two generations of derived lexemes), significant broadening of its semantics (esp. in fixed nominal phrases) and major pragmatization of its semantics as the result of nonverbal factors.
