Summary/Abstract: The paper elucidates the specificities of the production of Stefan Uher and Peter Solan in the light of the breaking of a problem-free reproduction of the conventional action-image relationship. Stefan Uher's production is understood as a quest for the truth between the so-called //modern" and //traditional" life styles, whereby emphasis is put on the impossibility to run away from archetypal and prototypic phenomena, which are directly connected with prototypic reactions. Peter Solan's films are largely perceived through their ability to combine the protagonists' account of events and testimonies in a way, which lessens the importance of the plot, and also through a clear and comfortable diagnosing of the wrongdoers. The paper is concluded by deliberating over the affinity between the ,,live" metaphors and the so-called optic situations in the films by Stanislav Barabas, Martin Holly, Peter Solan, and Stefan Uher.
