Summary/Abstract: The following article delves into the intricate landscape of cultural and religious dimensions of Ovid's "Metamorphoses". By employing a multidisciplinary approach, we explore how Ovid not only reflects but also shapes the cultural and religious landscape of ancient Rome. Our study contextualizes the "Metamorphoses" within the broader spectrum of Roman literary and religious tradition, highlighting its unique position in the canon of classical literature. We will examine the thematic elements of transformation and transcendence, and how these motifs resonate with Roman religious beliefs and practices. Consistent attention is paid to the portrayal of the gods and mortals alike, but also to the interplay between myth and reality, revealing therefore the reflective nature of Ovid's narratives, which serve as a mirror to Roman societal norms and religious ethos. Our study ultimately strives to demonstrate the enduring legacy of Ovid's work, not only as a masterful piece of literary work, but also as a pivotal contributor to the cultural and religious discourse of its time.
