Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned with matters of project management maturity and project governance. Theoretical and empirical considerations are related to non-profit organizations operating in Poland. Project governance in non-profit organizations is a new research area. Deepening research into this issue can significantly contribute to the effectiveness of projects. The analysis conducted leads to the conclusion that increasing project management maturity can provide significant support for the creation of project governance. Thus, it may influence a better understanding of project activities, the development of project competences and an increase in the consistency of project activities. The conclusions drawn are based on a survey of a sample of 93 non-profit organizations operating in Poland.
