Summary/Abstract: Professor Henryk Lesiński was one of the founders of the Szczecin academic community. Starting in 1956, he actively participated in the work of numerous scientific societies and organizations, both in the city and the region, as the director of the State Archive. He played a significant role in organizations such as the Szczecin Society of Sciences (as the chief editor of its publications), the West Pomeranian Institute (as the chairman of the scientific council), and the Szczecin branch of the Polish Historical Society (as the branch president). For decades, Professor Henryk Lesiński gathered and strengthened the historical community in Szczecin. His involvement in the publishing activities of the Szczecin Society of Sciences and the West Pomeranian Institute significantly contributed to the development of the academic community in Szczecin. During his tenure as the rector of the Higher Pedagogical School and later the Higher Pedagogical School from 1969 to 1981, he played a decisive role in strengthening the scientific community in Szczecin, which eventually led to the establishment of the University of Szczecin in 1985 at the mouth of the Oder River. In the University of Szczecin, Professor Henryk Lesiński served as the dean of the Faculty of Humanities and as the Director of the Institute of History until his death in 1994.
