Summary/Abstract: Customers' opinions and assessments related to the market of open pension funds influence their decisions which concern, inter alia, the choice or transfer from one fund to another. These decisions may have a very significant influence on the quality of life after retirement from professional activities. At the same time, the knowledge on consumer behaviour influences the development of the management strategies applied by the pension societies to open pension funds. The aim of the article is to present some selected aspects of consumer behaviour on the market of open pension funds. It has been established that, despite a low knowledge level and pension awareness in Poland, open pension funds are perceived by consumers as an integral part of the financial market which allows for saving money allocated for the future pension payments. However, the consumers evaluated their level of confidence and trust (and the profitability of) open pension funds as a relatively low one - on the backdrop of other institutions. The study uses the results of questionnaire research conducted by the Department of Marketing Research at the Poznań University of Economics.
