Social insurance for farmers in the face of changes

Summary/Abstract: Omissions connected with the failure to complete the social insurance reform in Poland as well as the lack of important initiatives aimed at harmonising the rules applicable to citizens in this area are a cause for concern. It seems that pension issues have become the subject of political bargaining and not actuarial calculation. Furthermore, the public debate on serious problems which require urgent solutions is neither initiated nor carried out. It concerns, in particular, levelling the retirement age of men and women, then extending it (for men), substantial correction in the so-called entitlement systems (pensions of uniform- wearing employees and miners). The same is the case with gradual changes in social insur- ance for farmers. The article attempts to outline the possible trends in its modernisation and shows the importance of financial flows to the pension provision sector in the state's eco- nomic policy
