IJAZAT-NAMA OF MUHAMEDA SEID SERDAREVIĆ

Summary/Abstract: The author here presents a translation of the Ijazat-nama issued to Muhamed Seid Serdarević, a renowned Bosniak scholar of the early 20th century, by Ahmed-ef. Hadžijamaković, sheikh and muderris of Gazi Husrev-bey’s khanikah in Sarajevo, in the year 1908. In the first part of the article, the author brings a brief introduction to the life and works of muderris Hadžijamaković and Muhamed Seid Serdarević along with a short presentation of Gazi Husrev-bey’s khanikah. Further, the author presents a general structure and the content of the ijazat-nama as a document and finally, he brings the translation of the text of Hadžijamaković’s ijazat-nama issued to Muhamed Seid Serdarević for tafseer, fiqh and hadith the subjects that were thought in Khanikah at the beginning of the 20th century. This ijazat-nama classifies Muhamed Seid Serdarević amongst the elite Islamic scholars who have been preserving and transferring to new generations the knowledge of their faith from its source, from the Messenger of Allah, s.w.s.
