Potential economic effects of the higher speed limit on roads in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The study presents a simulation of the expected changes in road accident and road accident casualty numbers in Poland as a result of increasing the speed limit on motorways and express roads as of 1 January 2011. The estimates are accompanied by respective costs which the road accidents generate for insurance companies and the economy as a whole. Most of the calculations have been based on official EU statistics.
