Summary/Abstract: The article aims to provide a holistic assessment of nuclear proliferation and disarmament process from a broad perspective. In this study, the spreading of nuclear weapons, rising in parallel with that process, nuclear disarmament course, possible reasons of states to possess weapons are discussed. Article is important in terms of analyzing armament, disarmament processes together. Processes of nuclear armament, disarmament are examined by scanning archival documents, SIPRI reports and official statements. The study finds that nuclear armament, which accelerated after 1960, decreased with disarmament treaties, that after end of the Cold War period, states drastically reduced their nuclear weapons stockpiles.
