Summary/Abstract: In recent years, numerous countries have been interested in the system of subsidies for premiums in additional pension schemes. It has been introduced mainly by well-developed countries, such as Germany and New Zealand, but it can be seen that other regions of the world are also interested in these issues. The aim of the article is to present the types and operation of subsidies in additional pension schemes as exemplified by Germany and New Zealand, and determine their importance in promoting additional savings for the period after retirement.
