Summary/Abstract: The paper traces some current trends in the development of the autobiographical narrative that position it beyond the standard autobiography, defined by definition as a non-fictional account of events in the life of a particular author, and ascribe to it characteristics of autofictionality. The theoretical framework of the work includes the autobiographical concepts of Georg Misch, Philippe Lejeune, Michaela Holdenried and Martina Wagner-Egelhaf, while the analytical part focuses on Monica Maron's novel “The Letters of Paul”, through which the intermedial interactions between autobiographical text and photography are explicated.
