Summary/Abstract: At European level, Directive 98/59/EC was adopted on the approximation of the legislation of the member states regarding collective redundancies, this being implemented in the national legislation within the provisions of articles 68-75 of the Labour Code.The collective redundancy procedure imposesthe fulfilment by the employer of two main obligations, in relation to the union or employee representatives:• The obligation to consult.• The obligation to inform.These two obligations represent the application of the general principle of good faith which is the basis of the legal employment relationship
