Summary/Abstract: The functioning of the Polish language in higher education institutions in the Donetsk region of South–Eastern Ukraine is the main focus of our research. The history of the study of Polish in the region is analysed, in particular at the Donbas State Pedagogical University, where Polish has been taught since 2020. The main problems facing the development of Polish language study in the region and higher education institutions are examined, and the prospects for promoting the development of Polish language study are outlined.
