EU normative conditions for the use of insurance for rational ecological waste management

Summary/Abstract: The content of this article focuses on the EU conditions for implementing the idea of rationalecological waste management with the use of insurance institutions, such as an insurance contractor guarantee. An attempt is made to define the notion of waste/product and forms ofwaste management. In order to demonstrate the importance of the financial security imposedby EU legislation, it proved necessary to present this obligation in the context of the broaderprinciples: polluter pays and the principle of extended producer responsibility. The impact of EUlegislation on national legal systems was presented using the example of Poland – Polish legislationand the Polish insurance market.
