Summary/Abstract: We start with an overview of the known revisions of 10th century Bulgarian translations and the question of their role in the transmission of texts. We continue with an overview of the transmission of St. John of Sinai’s Lestvica, which features not one but three revisions, two of the full text and one of the single chapter 5. Then we examine textual features of the revisions, i.e. correction of imperfections of the translation (both by recollation with the Greek and without), additional imperfections and inadequate terminology. The questions why revised and unrevised versions are transmitted indiscriminately and whether revisions are limited in time remain open.
