Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the meanings and lexicographical treatment of expressions denoting religious, particularly Christian ceremonies, in Czech. In the article, the nouns obřad ‘ceremony’, bohoslužba ‘(church) service’, mše ‘Mass’ and liturgie 'liturgy' are examined, with particular attention to their respective semantic and lexicographic features. Attention is paid to the differences in usage of these terms, because although each of them can refer to a liturgical ceremony, they are nonetheless not always freely interchangeable.
