University schedule optimisation with the use of a multi-agent system

Summary/Abstract: One of the logistical problems faced by planners is optimising the schedule of academic classes to meet all the required criteria and, at the same time, be satisfactory for users. When designing a tool to support this task, many authors try to use various types of algorithms and methods with varying degrees of success. This study proposes its own application whose automation can be based on a multi-agent system, which is adapted to the specific working conditions at the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Mathematics of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. This application will be able to be extended to work at the entire university, as well as at other universities and schools. The idea of automatic support arose during the practical use of the application while arranging real schedules. The results of the current experiments seem quite promising.
