Summary/Abstract: The following article aims to provide a fundamental summary and introduction to Albert the Great’s examination of the soul and intellect, with a special emphasis on his works, ‚De Anima‘ and ‚De Intellectu et Intelligibili‘. In the subsequent pages, we shall delve into Albert’s distinctive peripatetic views concerning the constitution of the human soul and its relation to the intellect. Additionally, we will explore how these views stand in direct opposition to some of his Aristotelian contemporaries and predecessors. Furthermore, a brief summary will be provided regarding the activity ascribed to the human cognitive process and its relation to God as the originator of all intelligence. Finally, in the conclusion of this text, we’ll seek to understand the essential bond and unity of the human soul and intellect.
