THE CONCEPT OF HOMELAND/FATHERLAND IN THE CONTEXT OF ASSOCIATIVE GRAMMAR

Summary/Abstract: Based on the material taken from the associative dictionary of the Serbian language –ARRSJ and OARSJ, this paper presents the concept of HOMELAND/FATHERLAND (ДОМОВИНА/ОТАЏБИНА) based on the associative field of lexemes отаџбина (‘fatherland’) and домовина (‘homeland’), from the viewpoint of associative grammar, and based on the analysis of relations within the pair stimulus – reaction in both directions, which represents a basic unit of associative network and associative grammar. Founded upon the rules of associative grammar and standard analogical procedures, relations within the pair stimulus – reaction are presented on three planes: verbalsemantic / grammatical, cognitive and pragmatic, upon which rests the realization of speaking-thinking activities, which is reflected in the language worldview.
