Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we address one part of the research related to the phenomenon of someone else’s speech, which concerns the marking of inner (unspoken) speech in Russian and Serbian. We point out the means (parenthetical verbs and particlexenomarkers) by which the inner speech is marked. The paper pays special attention to the use of the word rekoh/reko’ and kao/ ko velim in the Serbian language as a marker of inner speech. On the other hand, a component of inferential evidential meaning in the given markers can be identified.
