The memory of Ilinden – Preobrazhenie

Summary/Abstract: Today, the cultivated memory of Ilinden–Preobrazhenie has lost partof its monumentality – due to the fragmentation of the Bulgarian land,due to the tragic fact that many places of memory of the glorious events in the summer of 1903 lie today outside the boundaries of the Republic of Bulgaria. Nevertheless, 120 years later, the memory of the largest all-Bulgarian uprising is still alive. In Bulgaria, it has been continuously reproduced through publishing or republishing of the entire huge corpus of texts about the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising in the form of memories, documentary collections, historiographical works, through commemorative celebrations, as well as through thevarious works of artistic culture dedicated to the epic of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising.
