Summary/Abstract: In this article, the use of the metaphor of "nature" in Russian literary works of the early 19th century is analysed from a linguistic and cultural point of view. The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics and meanings of "nature" in the literary works of this period from a linguistic and cultural point of view and, at the same time to show the metaphorical potential of "nature". The subject of this article is the characteristics and meanings of "nature" as a metaphor. As an example for the study, the literary works of Russian writers such as M. Yu. Lermontov and I. S. Turgenev, who lived at the beginning of the 19th century, were taken. The methodological basis of the study is the ideas and opinions of leading linguists of our time, such as N. D. Arutyunova, L. V. Balashova, A. N. Baranov, M. Black and J. Lakoff, whose works are devoted to the study of metaphor. Using a linguistic and cultural approach through the cooperation of "linguistic, cultural and cognitive" has led to the discovery of the metaphorical potential of nature. Findings of the study; It can be a starting point to reveal the literal component of the metaphorical potential of nature in Russian literary works of the early 19th century and to create intercultural connections both by increasing the understanding of intercultural figurative meanings in direct communication and by reducing the level of error in translations. The material of the study is the novel by Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov, "A Hero of Our Time" (1838-1840), and the novel by Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev, "Rudin" (1855).
