Summary/Abstract: Discursive psychology (DP) is one of the approaches within discourse analysis. Its examines everyday conversations, social interactions and textual data. This article discusses three main strands in DP: (1) respecification and critique of psychological topics, (2) research on psychological thesaurus, and (3) studies of how psychological business (memory, emotions, etc.) is managed in and through discourse. all three are illustrated on empirical examples from a range of research, including police interrogations, telephone conversations, relationship counselling and press texts. This paper both presents PD’s contribution to the analysis of talk and text, and project it onto a broader research tradition of conversation analysis, ethnomethodology, social studies of science and rhetorical studies.
