State Reform. A Fashionable Formula or a Fundamental Change?

Summary/Abstract: The state reform is one of the most present issues on the political and public agendas since 2009. The President of Romania is a leading figure in this topic; reason for which an in depth analysis of his speeches might give to the political science researcher a good idea of what and how the Romanian state is imagined by the political elite. A new design of check and balances, a limited state and an equitable treatment of the citizens by the state, through education, public health and social security are promoted. However, the public policies meant to put these ideas into practice lack efficiency and long term vision, both essential in the case of a state reform.
