Summary/Abstract: Career development has always been a reason for discussion in society. The measures for a successful career can be different and often change depending on social norms. However, the search for opportunities for personal realization and demonstration of talent and opportunities is an inalienable need of active people. Most often, career development is associated with the processes of choosing a future career, improving skills, and gaining new knowledge that would be useful for employees to grow in their careers. The purpose of this study is to show what the expectations of employees in the Bulgarian labour market are in terms of career opportunities on the one hand, and the attitudes of companies that offer jobs, on the other. The aim of the study comprises the two sides of the labour market - employees and employers. The subject of the study includes the expectations and attitudes of both parties regarding career opportunities. An empirical study of career attitudes and practices in companies seeking to attract highly qualified staff has been conducted.
