Financing Of The Healthcare System In Bulgaria - State, Trends, Opportunities For Optimization

Summary/Abstract: The present study focuses on revealing the peculiarities and specifics of managing the financial resources invested in the field of healthcare in Bulgaria. The subject of research is the provision and management of financial resources invested in the healthcare system in Bulgaria, and its object is the degree of efficiency of the invested financial resources in the system. The study clarifies the conceptual features of healthcare financing in Bulgaria, assesses the implemented health reform and the problems arising from its implementation, and justifies the need for a scientific approach to financial resource management in healthcare institutions. The main thesis is that the partially implemented health reform in the Republic of Bulgaria, the limited financial resources and their inefficient management hinder the provision of the necessary quantity and quality of health services to the population in the country. In the research, the main trends and deviations in the financing of healthcare in Bulgaria are derived, as a result of the applied model for financing in Bulgaria.
