Summary/Abstract: The focus of this study is on researching and identifying appropriate interventions to increase people's financial literacy from the standpoint of opportunities to improve their business environment in Southeast Europe. The distinctive aspects of the present study can be systematized in the following directions: • Carrying out a study of a problem with a high degree of relevance and significance for Bulgaria and the region. The value of financial knowledge, which allows people to strive to control their finances, actively save, avoid debt and understand financial and economic risks and shocks, is illustrated by the global financial crisis in 2008 and is currently being confirmed by during the current 2020 pandemic crisis. • The collected data outline the guidelines of the global policy for financial education, which is generally accepted as a key component of financial empowerment and sustainability of individuals and a factor for the overall stability of the financial system in the region of South-east Europe. The main results of the study reveal the prospects for maximizing the profitability of interventions to increase financial literacy by selecting the most appropriate and accessible tools and mechanisms for this purpose. The results suggest the need to strengthen financial education policies, including through the development of digital tools to achieve individual financial sustainability. Financial education also needs to be used as a supportive policy for economic and financial reforms in the region.
