Summary/Abstract: In the paper the author poses the questions whether and to what extent the contemporary achievements of management science can be useful to solve typical managerial contradictions and dilemmas in an effective way. The reflection on the contradictions phenomenon in management allowed to state that: • theoretical concepts and instrumental proposals, recommending some solutions to disputable questions, seem not to be effective enough, • the improvement in this area requires the combined use of different instruments, including formal methods and tools of management, leadership styles, as well as elements of the social system of the organization. However, a lot of the questions remain unanswered.
