Summary/Abstract: This article is an Introduction to the Fundamental Research Project Encyclopedia of the Contemporary State (Vol. I, 2023). The main object of study of this Project is the performance of the major policies of the states in relation to their essential attributions – first of all, of the member states of the European Union (EU), including Romania, established in their Constitutions, in the founding Treaties of the EU and in the international Treaties to which they are a part. Along with its intrinsic academic and cognitive objectives, the Project also pursues institutional, pragmatic objectives, namely that, upon its completion, each of its co-authors can provide a good expertise in (at least) one of the major thematic areas they have dealt with preponderantly.
