Elena – feminine presence in Romanian history

Summary/Abstract: Analyzing Romanian history, I have found that over the centuries, a woman’s name, Elena, often appears. Based on this observation, I set out to identify the historical figures with this surname, as well as the place and role they played in the course of history. Without claiming to have found all the ladies who have had a prominent status, we consider that there are some persons whose role has been decisive and equally there have been persons who had no decisive representation. Our aim was to highlight the fact that in Romania’s history, in the private lives of the country’s leaders, in political and public life, there have been many women who have positively or negatively influenced the destiny of some leaders.
