Summary/Abstract: Kant and Levinas deserve serious analysis when the ethical views of both philosophers are concerned. In this study, it is aimed to critically examine the views of Critchley, who brought up such an effort in a unique context, and to open it up for discussion on a rich philosophical ground. Known for his studies on ethics, Critchley speaks of an ethical experience that starts with the approval of the relevant moral demand and points to the tension of the subject, whether the cause of action is one's own faculties, as in Kant's philosophy, or an external force, as in Levinas's views. The main purpose of the study is to introduce and critically analyze these claims of Critchley, who claims that similar forms of this view are also found in related philosophers.
