Summary/Abstract: The Slavs came to West Pomerania in the 5th-6th centuries AD. Observation of the natural environment made it possible to include the names of the animals that lived there in the names of settlements. The current research was carried out on a set of 81 place names with 39 different lexemes which named animals. The most numerous are the names of mammals (15), among them the lexeme cow, which was used in 6 oekonyms. In addition to the names of mammals, there were also the names of birds, insects, fish, amphibians, crustaceans and invertebrates.
