THE CROSSROAD CROSSES OF SULINA

Summary/Abstract: Numerous studies have focused their research only on religious edifices, crossroad crosses being considered by historians today of secondary importance. Following the research carried out during 2021-2022, we managed to create a repertory consisting of seven monuments, built between the 20th and 21st centuries, located on the administrative territory of the city of Sulina. Even if Dobrogea does not present a large number of crossroad crosses, as we find in the Apuseni Mountains region, in Mărginimea Sibiuluior even in the area of Vâlcea county, in the last decades, we observe here, as inthe entire country, the increase in the preference for building such monuments. In the present material we propose to mention these crossroad crosses, which ultimately belong to the spiritual life of the community.
