Industrial Relations in Turkey. Development and Current Situation

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the development and the present situation of industrial relations in Turkey. There is only little information available about this topic in German literature. For this reason, a short historical retrospect on the appearance and the development of the working class and the resulting movement is given in the beginning so that the present system can be properly interpreted. With the same aim, the development of industrial relations is presented in connection with the expansion of the legal framework. After discussing the legal scope in which trade unions and employers can function, the present situation is documented with facts and figures. Finally, the question in how far the existing system is compatible with the European regulations is dealt with. Here, also the discussion about reforming the existing system is addressed.
