Selected moments from the fight for malaria eradication in Bulgarian lands

Summary/Abstract: Маларията е инфекциозно паразитно заболяване, което е познато от най-дълбока древност. В България са полагани системни усилия както за ограничаване разпространението му, така и за изкореняването на заболяването. Статията отразява етапите на борбата срещу маларията от периода след Освобождението до официалното обявяване на страната за държава, свободна от малария през 1965 г. Отбелязани са най-важните етапи на тази борба, както и личностите, изиграли решаваща роля в процеса на ерадикация на заболяването.Malaria is an infectious parasitic disease that has been known since ancient times. Systematic efforts have been carried out in Bulgaria both to limit the spread of the disease and to eradicate it. This article reflects the stages of the fight against malaria from the period after the Liberation until the official proclamation of the country as a malaria-free country in 1965. The most important stages of this fight are highlighted, as well as the personalities who played a decisive role in the process of eradication of the disease
