Summary/Abstract: In the article the author attempted to find – from the perspective of a century – the answer to the question on the sources of the radicalism of indigenous inhabitants of Greater Poland, i.e. Poles who lived in 1918 in the area named Province of Posen by the Prussian partitioner and who were subjects of the German emperor. The paper begins with a characteristics of existing literature of the subject. Searching for the answer to the question posed, the author points out the political reasons and the mutual radicalization of the attitudes already in 1917 and then in the whole 1918, analyzes the extent of self-organization of the Polish society in Greater Poland, and shows the role of the Central Citizen’s Committee, later transformed into the Commission of the Supreme People’s Council. The Polish Military Organization of the Prussian Partition is characterized. Uncovering the sources of the radicalism, the author describes the 21 heated days between the Polish District Parliament session and the outbreak of the Greater Poland Uprising. The role of the individuals is highlighted, above all Mieczysław Paluch, pointing out at the same time to the sources of his conflict with the Commission of the Supreme People’s Council.
