Summary/Abstract: This paper is based on previous research in the fi eld of text analysis, a method of critical stylistic analysis that provides a set of analytical procedures that can be used to reveal ideologies of fear hidden in the text, with the aim of studying text and ideology. The fact is that the literary work is one of the forms of linguistic expression which can be studied without taking artistic value into account. The paper will summarize the methods of critical stylistic analysis described and implemented on the examples of Gothic terms in the novel by Robert Louise Stevenson Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louise Stevenson from 1886, putting the word as a basis for analyzing the literary text. According to the fact that the main goal of critical stylistic analysis is to provide a comprehensive and systematic set of analytical procedures, it can be considered as an another approach to critical discourse analysis and can be a subgroup of critical language analysis, because both critical discourse analysis and critical stylistic analysis aims to reveal ideologies and relationships in the discourse. The starting point of the study of ideology in a literature, as it is in this paper, is the relationship of literature to ideology, and the question is whether literature is also part of ideology, or whether the literature of a period can impose ideology, in this case evil, or whether there is a distancing of literature from ideology. About ideology, and the importance of researching ideology as a priority of this research, we are guided by the fact that critical stylistic analysis can be considered not only as a branch of critical analysis of discourse, but also a more developed method of this analysis.
