The Treq application in the process of establishing russian-hebrew translation pairs (based on the example of colloquial medical names)

Summary/Abstract: This article describes the possibilities that the Treq application provides in the process of translatingRussian colloquial medical names into Hebrew. The author presents the tool’s available functions thatmake it easier to find the adequate equivalent and also provides information about the Russian and Hebrewcollections included in the InterCorp parallel corpus. The article analyzes specific examples of the translationof Russian colloquial names of diseases into Hebrew using the English language as an intermediary language.Preliminary reference to printed and electronic resources made it possible to establish a potentially correctequivalent, whose adequacy should be confirmed by the application. The results of the analysis made it possibleto determine the advantages and disadvantages of the application, and the found translations can serve as thebasis for more thorough research in the field of identifying translation pairs of the everyday medical vocabularyof the analyzed languages.
