Summary/Abstract: Compassion and self-compassion are important for individual psychological wellbeing. The article explores compassion and self-compassion from the point of view of emotional regulation. Emotional regulation and its implications for compassion/prosocial behavior are presented through the lens of self-awareness and interactions’ nature. Established links between agreeableness as a personality trait and compassion are reviewed, as well as their implications for emotional regulation. Finally, the role of emotional regulation in relation to self-compassion is highlighted.
