Summary/Abstract: There is no doubt the year 2022 has a special meaning for deepen the strategic approach in capabilities development in the multinational frameworks. The main features of this evolution were pragmatism and efficiency in adapting the defence capabilities to the challenges and opportunities of security environment, while maximising the efficiency of operational commitments. In this context, one of the major developments was represented by the adoption, in 21 March 2022, at EU Council level, of the Strategic Compass for Security and Defence for a European Union that protects its citizens, values and interests and contributes to international peace and security. The main purpose of this undertaking is to streamline the objectives and level of ambition assumed through EU Global Strategy in a more precise guideliness for short and medium term.
