Summary/Abstract: The Military Archives and military press were used. Contribution of the Army in spreading and popularization of this sport in Yugoslav society was stressed. Organized skiing in the army of the Kingdom of SCS/Yugoslavia begun in 1925/1926, the year when skiing courses for the officers were organized in Kranjska Gora together with Yugoslav winter sport association from Ljubljana. In order to prepare staff for special operations in the mountains during winter season, and in order to get the army as well as the people used to skiing, military winter sport centers were established during the winter of 1927/1928 in each of five military regions. Ski courses were introduced as compulsory in mountainous regiments. In order to make skiing more popular in the army, competitions and the system of prizes were introduced.
