Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was to specify the place and role of organizational units of the Ministry of National Defence, including the Polish Armed Forces, in the crisis management system of the state in relation to modern challenges in the area of non-military and paramilitary threats. The main research problem was stated in the question: what new challenges will the crisis management system of the state face and to what extent might the Polish Armed Forces be involved in the process of counteracting threats in terms of recent organizational, competence, formal and legal changes in the Ministry of National Defence? In the research process, empirical methods were applied primarily, which were: expert opinion surveys, observations and analysis of legal acts with organizational and competence documents, however, due to the unclassified nature of the publication, sensitive information was omitted. The research results showed that at the beginning of the third decade of the 21st century, significant changes took place in the Polish security circum- stances, dominated by external factors, i.e. the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border and the Russian-Ukrainian war. These factors significantly affect the internal situation in Poland and imply fresh challenges for the crisis management system.
