Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present a picture of the relation-building dynamics between foster families and the children entrusted into their care. The text contains divagations’ on the im- portance of mutual relations that are established between couples (legally acknowledged as married couple) forming a foster family and children they take care of, who most often come from deeply dysfunctional families and for whom, ability leading to establishing positive interpersonal relationships is an obstacle on its own. The discussed research is based on 16 interviews with foster families, conducted between April and September 2021. The research includes blood-unrelated foster families and professional foster families. The analysis of the collected data shows that within the foster families, positive personal relationships are established between parents and the children entrusted to them, for upbringing, which results in mutual acceptance of the participants of these relationships that create the ability to lead a harmonious family life, as well as the durability of these relationships.
