Summary/Abstract: This paper concerns family, in particular its essence, functioning and the basic assumptions of functioning in the opinion of contemporary young people. These issues are not sufficiently represented in research papers, but it is worth looking at them in a general manner, which is done here. The purpose of this essay is to present issues raised by Cracow youths concerning the contem- porary family and its functioning. It is not easy to answer this question due to social, mental and economic changes affecting the shape and functioning of modern families. The research material used for this analysis comes from the surveys conducted in late May and early June 2020 among university students from Cracow.
