Summary/Abstract: The current state of academic book publishing in Turkey and the problems encountered are the subject of this study. In scholarly publishing, there are international standards that publishing houses must comply with and essential qualities that must be present in the books they publish. Think. Check. Submit. Platform (www.thinkchecksubmit.org) has prepared and made available a checklist for authors to identify reliable academic publishers. The warning is at the end of the list: “Submit your manuscript only if you can answer ‘yes’ to most or all of the questions above.” When we filled out this list based on the information on the universities' websites that publish academic books, the result was "No" in 25 out of 30 questions. Unfortunately, academic book publishing at universities in our country is carried out at an amateur level. Besides a few good examples, books are not published from a single center under the "University Publications" brand name. In order to improve academic book publishing at universities, it is recommended to take into account the findings brought up every year in the Turkey Editors' Workshop (www.editorlercalistayi.com), which has been organized with the support of Sivas Cumhuriyet University since 2018 and presented to the relevant institutions as a workshop decision.
